2022 Apollo Auction Competition wrapped up!

The Apollo Auctions Competition is done and dusted for another year. Taking place over two action packed days in August, we welcomed both local, international and interstate auctioneers to face off! The competition is designed to grow the competitors skills and confidence as auctioneers, so we enlisted the expertise of the judges to share constructive feedback with each auctioneer.

The competition returned to Darling and Co where three years earlier, Robert Tulp had emerged victorious as the 2019 winner. Rob performed strongly, eager to make it his third Apollo champion title – and hot off a win at LVD, taking him through to the 2022 AUSTRO’s. However it was Clarence White, of Menck White that impressed the judges and was crowned the champion of 2022. His skill and talent gave him the lead above the remaining four finalists!

The Rising Star competition represented fresh talent to the industry with the majority competing never having called an auction. It was impressive to see such talent to hit the stage with such confidence. The winner was announced as Paul Glover, proudly taking the coveted Bysmithdesigns gavel back across the ditch.  

This year Apollo Auctions Director, Justin Nickerson, introduced a new award never before seen at an Auction Competition of ‘Greatest One Liner’ – a creative initiative that ensured entertainment and plenty of laughs across both days. With mentions of Jimmy Brings, Gordon Ramsay and many comments perhaps too risque to mention, it was clear that South Australian, Vincent Doran of Toop + Toop crowned the official funny-man with the best one liner award indisputably awarded in his favour.
