Apollo Auctions is proud to announce a major step forward in its national expansion, officially entering the New South Wales market. As part of this strategic move, highly respected industry leader Ricky Briggs has been appointed Head of Auctions for NSW.
Apollo Auctions Director, Justin Nickerson, said the appointment represents a significant acquisition of talent in one of the country’s most dynamic auction markets.
“Ricky is one of the most respected and driven auctioneers in the country. His leadership, values and results speak for themselves. This is about more than expansion; it’s about bringing the right people together,” said Mr Nickerson.
“We’ve long admired Ricky not only for his performance in the field, but also for his commitment to the future of our craft. His role as Chair of the Auctioneering Chapter at the Real Estate Institute of NSW is a testament to that.”
Briggs brings a wealth of experience to the role. A leading figure in the NSW market, he is the youngest-ever board member elected to the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales. He currently serves as both Chair of the REINSW Auctioneering Chapter and Chief Judge of the REINSW Auctioneer of the Year competition. His influence extends nationally as a member of the Australasian Auctioneering Championships Steering Committee, working alongside the most respected auction professionals in the industry.
He has called thousands of auctions across metropolitan and regional NSW, and is also widely regarded as a leading auctioneer trainer and mentor, committed to shaping the next generation of talent.
For Ricky, the appointment marks the beginning of a powerful new chapter.
“I’ve always believed in pushing boundaries and delivering real value to our clients. This next step allows me to continue that vision on a larger scale; building a team of world-class auctioneers and raising the bar for what’s possible across New South Wales,” said Mr Briggs.
The partnership will see Advantage Auction Group’s clients continue to benefit from the premium service, energy and commitment they’ve come to expect; now backed by Apollo’s international resources, systems, and network of industry-leading auctioneers.
Joining Ricky in the move is young gun Ollie Gearing, winner of the 2022 REINSW Novice Auctioneering Title, who becomes the first official NSW appointment under the Apollo banner. His recruitment signals a strong focus on building a high-performance team and nurturing future leaders in the auctioneering space.

With a team of more than 35 auctioneers across Australia and New Zealand, Apollo Auctions is focused on facilitating 10,000 auctions in 2026. The expansion into New South Wales is a pivotal step toward that goal.
Apollo Auctions’ General Manager, Greg Brydon, shared his thoughts on the next phase of growth:
“Ricky is exactly the type of leader we want in this business; high-performing, values-driven, and committed to constant improvement,” said Mr Brydon.
“This partnership ensures we continue delivering exceptional value to agents, vendors and buyers in New South Wales, while supporting Ricky to build something extraordinary in the region.”
This appointment marks a bold step forward for both businesses, uniting talent, ambition and a shared commitment to excellence. With Ricky Briggs leading the charge in NSW, Apollo Auctions is poised to set a new benchmark for auctioneering – simply world-class.
