Apollo Auctions, the largest independent real estate auction house in Australasia, has appointed Greg Brydon as its first-ever General Manager
Founded in 2013 by industry veteran Justin Nickerson, Apollo Auctions boasts a robust team of more than 35 auctioneers across Australia and New Zealand, collectively calling more than 7,000 auctions annually.
Mr Nickerson, the founder of Apollo Auctions, said organic business growth in recent years had highlighted the need for a dedicated leadership role.
“It became apparent that we needed another leader within the business to focus on growing our size and reach, provide additional support and leadership to our existing stable of auctioneers, as well as recruiting new auctioneers,” Mr Nickerson said.
Melbourne-based Greg Brydon, an experienced auctioneer and real estate professional, was recently selected for the pivotal role, which begins in early April.
Mr Brydon’s comprehensive background in the real estate industry, spanning from administration to property management and sales, made him an ideal candidate, Mr Nickerson said.
“It was vital that the position was filled by someone who had experience as an auctioneer but also across the wider real estate industry, including sales, which meant that Greg – an Apollo auctioneer – was the perfect fit for the role,” he said.
“I’m confident that Greg’s pedigree, as well as natural leadership qualities, will benefit not only our auctioneers but also our sales agent clients across Australasia.”
Mr Brydon’s passion for property runs deep, nurtured by a family with a strong investment culture.
“My path into the industry started at a relatively young age and has involved roles in all facets of the industry from administration to property management, to office management, auctions, and property sales,” Mr Brydon said.
“I feel extremely privileged but also humble because Justin has been my auction idol for many years.
“To now have Justin as both a mentor and a leader who is putting his trust in me to lead his business through its next phase of growth is just incredible.”
Mr Brydon aims to elevate Apollo Auctions further over the next 12 to 18 months by increasing services for auctioneer contractors and sales agent clients.
“Our big hairy, audacious goal is for our team to be calling 10,000 auctions in the 2026 calendar year, as well as increasing our number of auctioneers to 50 across Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
Mr Brydon also plans to grow the existing team and cement Apollo Auctions as a market leader in both the auction and training spaces.
“We want to be the identity of auctions across Australasia,” he said.
